"Positive teacher-student relationships are a segue to student motivation to learn.  A learner's conviction that he or she is valued by a teacher becomes a potent invitation to take the risk implicit in the learning process." - Carol Tomlinson and Jay McTigheIntegrating Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design

Friends of Edith Bowen Laboratory School has three objectives--to support the process of purchasing and implementing technology for students and teachers, to support place-based outdoor learning opportunities for students, and to develop and fund our new interactive playground.

In the Fall of 2015, the Herzstein Foundation generously provided a $7,500 contribution to the Ryker Dattage Outdoor Education Fund.

In January 2016, the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation donated $50,000 for various technolgy enhancements for classrooms.

To make a contribution please contact our Business Manager, Eric Gierloff.  He can be reached via
